Jay G. Merker, MD, is a highly trained gastroenterologist and internal medicine physician at Digestive Disease Care, serving Babylon and the Long Island communities of New Hyde Park and Lake Success in New York.
He is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and holds a medical license in the state of New York. Dr. Merker is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Medical Association.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in biology at Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and his master’s degree in medical biology at Long Island University in Brookville, New York. Dr. Merker received a medical degree from the Autonomous University of Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, and the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City.
He completed an internship, residency, and gastroenterology fellowship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens, where he was a chief medical resident. He has more than three decades of experience in gastroenterology and received the LIJ teaching award from Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Dr. Merker loves spending time with his family and friends when he’s not in the office. He enjoys exceeding the expectations of new and existing patients at Digestive Disease Care and compassionately welcomes them to the practice.
